On September 19-24, 2016, the Erie Canalway National Heritage Corridor will host the 10th annual Global Mural Conference. 234 cities, stretching across 524 miles of New York State, will pay homage to the region’s rich cultural history with a series of murals depicting both everyday life and signature historical events. For more than 20 years, the conference has been creating art and community around the world, and this year’s theme is “Preserving Heritage Through Community Art.” The event will feature the Erie Canal Heritage Mural Expo, where particpants can watch as more than 20 local and international artists create new murals that will be installed and featured along the Canal after the conference. Local schoolchildren will also co-create a mosaic mural together. To register for the conference, click here.
