Throughout history Dreamers have been harbingers of progress, spurred on by boldness and curiosity, they dared to explore new territories and achieve key accomplishments that served to move the world forward. Mahatma Gandhi, Martin Luther King, Nelson Mandela, Oprah Winfrey, Steve Jobs, the list goes on – all of them expressed powerful ideas that were, at one point, a dream.

Dreams are the root of all innovation. Everything we see around us started from a dream, a vision—something that didn’t exist but was sufficiently yearned for. We tend to think of innovation solely in the realm of business affairs, but that is outmoded thinking. Our times call for us to regard all dreams as seedling incubators for world possibility. Dreams are encapsulated innovations seeking the right conditions to be released. While dreams offer us a glimpse of our yet to be realized potential, it takes courage, perseverance and community/support to take them to the next level. Platforms like our partner Crowdit, Kickstarter, Indiegogo and crowdrise speak to our desire to support dreams as they come true, knowng we played a role- no matter how small in making them happen.

Despite the diversity of crowd-sourced mobilization platforms like those i just mentioned, many of us are still hesitant to ask for support to help bring our dreams come to fruition, because we haven’t fully given ourselves permission to dream. But maybe it’s deeper than that, perhaps we don’t dare to dream because we have never been given a proper invitation. I hope together we can change that…

I have come to believe that the ability to activate a desired reality is one of the most powerful tools we possess as human beings. The International Day for Dreamers, the first global venture to empower individuals–just like you–to give yourselves permission to innovate and create new paradigms for what is possible in the world today.

Achievement and aspiration are what hold the world together. It takes us putting those dreams in motion to create a world that works better than the one we woke up in yesterday. That is what the power and possibility of dreams offer us..an invitation to rise to the occasion to re-imagine our lives, our businesses, our communities, OUR WORLD.
