When it comes to the most important created days of the year, one stands as a giant force that all humanity can benefit from-Peace Day.

This year, World Dream Day is excited to give you a glimpse into how we have supported and celebrated the power of peace in a meaningful way over the past couple of years and how we intend to next.

FIRST TAKE THESE TWO STEPS!

  1. LEARN MORE ABOUT WORLD DREAMDAY : http://bit.ly/worlddreamday2016
  2. RSVP FOR OUR WORLD DREAMDAY FB Event: http://bit.ly/experiencewdd2016online

NOW, let’s go on a journey!

We take you to a place called Newburgh, NY, a city that was once celebrated for its progress and innovation, actively working towards shifting its trajectory.

When the founder of World Dream Day, Ozioma Egwuonwu, began her work in Newburgh, NY in 2013, she soon became aware that the city itself was desperately crying out for hope.

The first initiative she took on was to work with Jeff, a local artist, to install a Dream Wall at the major intersection of the city. She believed that by installing a permanent palette that could as a backdrop to collect and reflect the ideas, goals and dreams of Newburgh, that she could begin to seed positive change.

The Newburgh Dream Wall over the years was used to spread a variety of messages. Most important of them was that Newburgh mattered and that there were people who really cared and wanted more for themselves and their community.

After the Newburgh DreamWall, many initiatives followed, including the creation of DreamUpNBNY, a pop-event that focused on promotion peace in the streets and homes of the City of Newburgh. This event featured a World Dream Day Peace Art Installation and a DreamDonation drive, where residents could select free items that supported their own dreams.

This year, for World Dream Day’s 5th anniversary, we recently created the DreamPeace initiative, which focuses on supporting the Dream of Peace in Newburgh, NY through artistic expression and meditation. We are honored to launch this work through inclusion in the Create Peace Project exhibit, currently on display at the Karpeles Manuscript Museum Newburgh, NY.

The two works–Peace is a Golden Dream & Peace is Royal–seek to fuse the power of peace with the importance of peace as an idea/goal/dream not only to be held in our minds,  but to be brought forth into the world through action.

The final way that we are seeking to actively support Peace in the City of Newburgh, is through the creation of The Newburgh Dream Garden, a community green space dedicated to Peace + Progress of Newburgh, NY. To learn more and support the Garden please make a donation HERE.
